Trudynamics (Trudy Lee Gayle) was born and raised in Toronto, Canada is both an Honours graduate of York University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Toronto, and The Independent Study Program at The Ailey School in New York City. While attending The Ailey School she was taught by an incredible roster of teachers including; Dudley Williams (veteran Graham/Ailey dancer); Troy Powell (Ailey II, Artistic Director); Jacqulyn Buglisi (Graham) and Freddie Moore (Horton) to name a few.
During her time in the U.S., she also began training in Latin & Ballroom with Pierre Dulaine & Yvonne Marceau of American Ballroom Dance Theater (AbrT). She was able to do this in conjunction with teaching Latin & Ballroom for ‘Dancing Classrooms’ (a division of ABrT) an Arts in Education program that teaches social development via Latin & Ballroom Dance. She has had the privilege of teaching this program in both NYC and Toronto and currently continues to teach American Style Latin & Ballroom at Danceology Studios in Toronto’s downtown west end.
Off of the dance floor, Trudy Lee is the General Manager of Jasmyn Fyffe Dance, a cutting-edge Contemporary/fusion based, company in Toronto. She has had the pleasure of helping to mount INTERLOCK (2012), the highly successful 2nd annual full-length evening of work by Jasmyn Fyffe Dance and most recently she has proudly assisted in the company’s remount of ‘Pulse’ which was presented in the 2013 Montreal Fringe Festival, the Wave Rising Series in DUMBO, Brooklyn, NY and the 2014 Pulse Youth Dance Conference in North Bay.
Ms. Gayle has performed on many stages across Canada and the US and is a member of both ACTRA and CAEA. She filmed a television and print advertisement for O2 alongside Gary Oldman in 2012 and some of her theatrical credits include; The Wedding Singer (2012), Mayfield Dinner Theatre; My Brothers Keeper (2011), Exousia Media Group and Hairspray (2011), Drayton Ent. She is a performance member of Inica Dance Industries and continues to develop herself as an independent artist.
Trudy is also a proud cast member of the dance-theatre production, Gimme One Riddim. Now in its third remount, co-produced by Jasmyn Fyffe and Natasha Powell GOR just appeared in Harbourfront’s acclaimed NextSteps series this past March 2014.
